Why can't get a quote over the phone?
When giving homeowners and estimate on a new roof or siding we strive to be as accurate as possible. We refuse to just blindly guess and throw a number before we see the home. By seeing the home, it insures you get the right estimate to help you make the proper decisions for you, your budget, and your home improvement needs. When calculating an estimate there are many factors that contribute to the cost of the job. For example, Classic Metal roofing pricing is based as much on complexity (pitch, corners, dormers, etc) as it is on the size of your roof all of which have to be identified on site. To be efficient, accurate, and provide you with all the information you need to make a decision, our experts need to see each house and take physical measurements in person.
Why do you ask for all decision makers to be present?
Deciding on a new roof or siding can be a big decision. Typically, homeowners find it beneficial to have their spouse, parents, or any other influential decision makers present. This allows the information to be presented efficiently and correctly. It also reduces stress for everyone involved because there is less back and forth between parties; and it gives everyone the opportunity to ask any additional questions.
I received several estimates to replace my asphalt shingle roof system and the prices vary greatly.
If one estimate seems much lower than the others and it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Many fly-by-night contractors’ below-cost bids seem attractive, but these contractors often are uninsured and perform substandard work. If an estimate is confusing, ask the contractor to break down the estimate into items/terms you can understand.
Do I need to be present during the project?
Not at all; you are free to go about your day as usual. As professional contractors, we will not enter your home at any time; therefore, you do not need to be present during the installation, unless you choose to do so.
NOTE: We may need to enter your home for leak investigation
What does it mean when the salesperson talks about a "square?"
A square is 100 square feet (10 feet by 10 feet).
What happens if there is rain during my installation?
We are always watching the weather, and if there is a chance of precipitation above 40%, your installation will be delayed. If it starts raining in the middle of your install, we stop and make the jobsite completely water tight.
Is there a chance that my landscape can get damaged during installation?
That is a possibility, but we take every precaution to insure your home is in the same condition, if not better when we leave.
Is there an ideal time to install my new roof or siding?
No. We install roofing and siding year around.
Do you offer financing?
Absolutely! We have multiple options available through Service Financial.
What types of roof do you install and repair?
We are specialized in commercial and residential flat roofs, shingled roofs, and metal roofs.
What could cause stains on my roof?
Roofing stains are usually caused by algae build up. This growth is attributed to the high amounts of limestone found in most asphalt shingles. The growth normally occurs on the North and East-facing slopes, because there is less sun exposure. We are also at a high risk because of the climate; algae thrives in Missouri’s humidity. All roofing systems offered by Fortified Roofing and Siding are resistant to algae build up.
How will I know when it’s time to replace my roof?
There are three important factors that determine if you need a new roof: age, leaks, and appearance. Age is an important key factor to look at, because a roofing system usually lasts about 12 to 15 years. If your roof is approaching the end of its lifespan, consider having it replaced. Appearance can tell you a lot of information about your roof. If the shingles have started to curl, break, or warp that can be an indication that your roof may need replaced. Lastly, leaks are a clear indicator that your roof is failing and might need to be replaced. If you have evidence of water leaking in your home, it has probably been leaking for a while. Water can cause havoc on your rafters, plywood sheathing, ceiling and walls so it is important to get it inspected before they begin to rot.
NOTE: Fortified Roofing and Siding will conduct a free inspection of your roof and offer a honest opinion on the current condition of your roof.
Can a new roof be installed on top of my old roof?
Yes, however Fortified Roofing and Siding chooses not to in most instances because roof systems were not designed to withstand the weight on multiple layers. Also the top layer of the roofing will wear twice as fast due to poor ventilation. Lastly, we prefer to remove, because we cannot inspect for rotten or damaged decking otherwise.
Do missing shingles mean I will eventually have leaking in my roof?
Yes. It is important that you always repair missing or damaged shingles right away to avoid further problems.
When should I replace my home’s siding?
There are several warning signs that can indicate it is time to replace your home’s siding. When a house’s siding starts to crack, loosen, break apart or split this is a clear sign that it is failing. Also the appearance of fungus, separation at the seams, caulking failure, swelling and delamination means you need to replace your siding before the exterior becomes uninsulated. Lastly, the life expectancy of your siding has an age limit, so when it starts to fade or warp, it needs to be replaced.
