Many of our customers are unsure of what to expect when we begin their roof replacement. We hope the following information will help prepare you and make your installation a great experience for you.
Roof Replacement Expectations
A roof replacement is a major construction project and there will be varying levels of noise for the duration of your project. If you, your family members, or your pets have sensitivity to loud noises, we recommend spending some time away from your home while the job is in progress. Sometimes things happen during a major construction project that we didn't foresee, but rest assured we will work together with you to resolve any issues.
Please note the following information that is included in our Terms and Conditions of signed contract:
- We are NOT responsible for any inadequacies or deficiencies presently existing on the property including but not limited to insulation, vapor barrier, ventilation, siding, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and/or structural design.
- We will do our absolute best to protect landscaping, sidewalks, decks, driveways, A/C units, etc. However, this is a construction project and accidents do happen. Occasionally plants and shrubs can still become damaged from falling debris as well as slight scratching and/or small denting of gutters, oil droplets in driveways, and small hairline cracks in concrete; these are beyond our control.
- We are not responsible for satellite calibration or interrupted TV, cable, or internet service due to detaching and resetting the satellite dish.
Once you are notified of your roof install date, we suggest:
- Removing all items around the house that could be damaged, such as patio furniture, potted plants, and grills. Our crews will gladly assist if needed, if you need additional help, please let us know before they arrive.
- Removing valuables from your walls that may fall due to normal vibrations from roof construction.
- Removing any items on the first floor directly under the roof that could be damaged from dust that may fall from the rafters.
On the night before your roof installation:
- Plan to park out of your garage the night before or move your vehicle prior to the crew arriving. Your driveway will need to be clear for the dump trailer.
Installation Day
Our goal is to maintain a safe job site for both our crew and your family. Please keep your pets and children safe by staying inside your home on the day of your roof replacement. If you need to enter and exit your home, please be aware of the possibility of nails on the ground and falling debris from your roof. Most work will be completed the same day it is started. However, some homes can take more than one day.
- Our crews typically arrive on the job site between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Please note that during hot weather, the crew may need to begin earlier in the day, and during winter weather they may begin later in the day.
- Occasionally, power tools are needed during your project. Please have a power source available (if possible).
- Your satellite dish will be removed. If we reattach your satellite, please note you may have to contact your provider to realign the signal – this is NOT something we can do.
- Once our crew has prepped the job site, the tear-off will begin. We will tear off down to the plywood decking.
- If, during the tear-off process, our crew discovers rotten plywood, we will document it with pictures and attempt to contact you. However, if we are unable to contact you within a reasonable time, the rotten plywood will automatically be replaced. Please see the contract for the pricing of plywood. We will NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES roof over rotten plywood.
- Once the tear-off is complete, our crew will begin installing the products associated with your roof replacement.
Completion
Our cleanup consists of removing equipment and properly disposing of debris. A magnetic roller will be utilized to pick up metal debris but please be advised every roof has on average 10,000 nails, a few nails, hidden in grass or shrubbery, may possibly remain. We will do our absolute best, but we are not able to pick up every single nail.
- Surplus material: If there are extra materials, we will arrange for our supplier or our production team member to pick up all remaining materials. SURPLUS MATERIALS ARE THE PROPERTY OF FORTIFIED ROOFING & SIDING.
- We always order more materials than are needed, just in case we run into something unexpected.
- The extra material we order is at OUR COST. This is NOT included in your contract and you are not charged
for any extra material.
Our production team will complete a final inspection of your roof. Once the inspection is completed, you will receive your final invoice which is due at that time. You will receive your lien wavier and labor warranty by email. Your manufacturer’s warranty will come directly from the manufacturer.
NOTE: OUR GOAL IS FOR EACH CUSTOMER TO HAVE A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WITH US. IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS AT THE BEGINNING, DURING, OR UPON IMMEDIATE COMPLETION OF YOUR PROJECT PLEASE REACH OUT TO US IMMEDIATELY BY EITHER CONTACTING YOUR SALESPERSON DIRECTLY OR CALLING OUR OFFICE. WE CAN’T FIX IT, IF WE DON’T KNOW ABOUT IT. IT IS NEVER OUR EXPECTATION THAT OUR CUSTOMERS BE REQUIRED TO “CLEAN UP ANYTHING.” PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE PROJECT TO TELL US IF THERE WERE ISSUES.
