As members of the community we believe it is our responsibility to give back.

As a family that was on the receiving end of a charitable contribution, we personally understand the impact it can have on a family and a community. In 2005, we became a Make-A-Wish family due to our son’s life threatening illness. The team that organized our trip went above anything we could have ever expected. From that moment on, we decided we would always give back to our community and church. We take that responsibility on a personal level, but also on a business level, which is why we have handpicked charities that are close to each team member’s heart.  Below you can see what charity each member has picked and learn how we participate.

Larry has chosen the Central Missouri Honor Flight as one of Fortified’s main charities.  The Central Missouri Honor Flight is an amazing organization that solely exists on honoring veterans and thanking them for all their sacrifices.  We firmly support their mission of transporting heroes to Washington D.C. in order to visit the memorials.  This charity is important to Larry because of his service in the United States Marine Corps during Operation Desert Shield/Storm.  He is passionate about giving back to those that have fought for our freedom.  Larry’s favorite way to volunteer is by being a guardian because he loves meeting other veterans and hearing their stories.

In the past four and half years, Central Missouri Honor Flight has had the privilege of taking 1,214 veterans to Washington, DC, to visit the memorials of their service and sacrifice.

Our active roles with the honor flight:

  • Larry is a 5-time Guardian
  • Sponsors of donut and snacks for the arrival
  • Hosted silent auction to send a local veteran on a flight

Megan has a passion for animals which is why she has chosen Central Missouri Humane Society  as her charity.  The Humane Society exists to help prevent suffering and reduce reproduction animals with emphasis on public education, adoption and offering veterinary services for under-served pet owners.  Megan has alway loved animals and wants to take every stray home to care for.  Thankfully, she doesn’t have to fill her house full because the Humane Society will never turn away an animal.  In 2015 they took in 3,143 unwanted animals with the primary goal of finding a caring and lasting homes for every adoptable animal.  We are happy to partner with them  and help volunteer at the shelter and donate to their cause.  We love animals and want to see all of them have a happy forever home.

We participate and support by:

  • Donating and attending the annual Whiskers and Wine Fundraiser
  • Monetary Donations off of the wishlist

Veronica has always loved the mission of the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Missouri.  She is passionate about helping families in need and those struggling with illness.  The Ronald McDonald house is built on the idea that family support is everything.  Parents should be with their children helping them through their roughest days.  At the Ronald McDonald house, families can focus on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay or where they will get their next meal .  As a mom, Veronica, has seen illness first-hand, she knows how difficult the simple task of where to sleep or eat can be.  That is why we are proud to partner with them and support their “home away from home mission”

We will be supporting the Ronald McDonald:

  •  Volunteering at the house
  • Donations from their wishlist
  • Gingerbread competition
